Troy Talks About Vintage Camper Van Illustration for New Fish Face Design

I wanted to talk to you a little about my latest illustration, in which I tried to kill two birds with one stone.

For one, I’m really into camper vans currently. Joanie and I have been seriously thinking of investing in an adventure-style vehicle like a camper van. Our hope is, in the not-so-distant future, we would be traveling the country in one while visiting family and friends and hitting every national park in the U.S. It’s been on the bucket list for some time now). We are just starting to think about what type of van we would want. As far as the van goes, my choice is vintage (and why my new artwork looks like a ‘60s Volkswagen Westfalia, or Vanagon or maybe even Toyota’s Hiace), while Joan’s choice is a newer one (Mercedes Sprinter). Do we want to build it out ourselves or have it done for us? Do we want to buy a brand new van completely decked out? Or buy a used finished one? So far, It’s somewhat like buying a house and car at the same time.

Second, I want to keep creating a logo or brand apparel and this design accomplishes that as well. You’re going to start seeing more designs that are going to incorporate the Fish Face logo or the words Fish Face Goods. somewhere in the art. I’m excited to build out more and more brand-themed products!

Lastly, after looking at this illustration over the last week or so, I got to thinking that this design lends itself well to customizing. What if you could have a canoe or kayak on top? How about a fly rod travel locker on top? Maybe a couple of mountain bikes on top or off the back? I may add these to the ordering options? Just thinking out loud here folks. What do you think?

Did you catch the fact that I created this in the morning? That may have not been the best idea? I had only had one cup of coffee before I got the idea to record this. I sure sound a little lethargic. I actually went back into the original video to make sure I hadn’t slowed down the sound. I hadn’t. Folks, that’s just the way I sound at 7 a.m. with only one cup of joe 😂

Well, take care, and thanks for reading and listening. Till next time, tight lines,

Troy
