Keep on Hiking - A Brief Explanation About This Backpacking Inspired Design

Robert Crumb was a prolific cartoonist from the sixties whose work in the comic Zap Comix made him an iconic figure in pop culture. A piece he did entitled Keep on Truckin became a symbol for the hippie movement of the ‘60s. Crumb didn’t quite understand why and eventual grew to hate the drawing. He said it was the curse of his life! He did not want to be a spokesman for the hippies.

Another inspiration for my illustration is that I have really gotten into hiking and backpacking since we’ve moved here to North Carolina. I have done a ton of backpacking in my life, but being in a place where it is literally right outside your door is very inspiring and motivating.
